Compared to similar products at 5GHz, the 24GHz millimeter wave radar human detection sensor can more accurately detect static states such as individuals’ sleep. The sensor can output sensing results through Zigbee protocol, and the sensor can output sensing results through wireless (ZigBee) or wired (RS485), RS232, dry contact, wet contact)
The Zigbee 5.8/24GHz mmWave Radar body detection sensor has the function of human presence, human static, human micromotion, and human motion detection, which can detect the presence or absence of people in the area. It can also accurately detect static states, such as when personnel sleep. The body detection sensor can output sensing results through wireless (WiFi, ZigBee, Bluetooth, 4G)or wired(RS485, RS232, dry contact, wet contact)to provide sensing and scene intermodal functions for IOT fields such as smart home, smart hotel, bright office, innovative elevator, security monitoring, etc.

Set the detection latency of the body detection sensor from OS to 10 seconds to reduce the false alarm rate

1. Functional ZigBee body detection sensor: It has multi-state detection functions such as human presence, human static state, human micro-movement, and human movement. It can accurately detect whether there is anyone in the current area. It can also detect whether someone is sleeping through high-frequency millimeter-wave radar.
2. Perceived Light Intensity for Smart &Scene Linkage: The Zigbee 24GHz body detection sensor can be scene-linked with other Zigbee devices, especially your house lights, to ON/OFF automatically as the brightness changes. Besides, you can intelligently link the sensor to other smart home devices for home automation.
3. ZigBee Hub as Control Center: The ZigBee body detection sensor must be used with the ZigBee gateway, the signal transmission center for all Tuya ZigBee smart devices. The signal it transmits is highly stable and must-have for the whole house. (Note: Tuya ZigBee hub is highly recommended because it has wider compatibility than other hubs)
4. Advanced New Design with Multiple Settings: Set the sensitivity from 1-9 to your need, with a minimum detection range of 0.00m and a maximum of 9.5m for flexible detection demand. Meanwhile, it is designed with a hold time set of 0-1500s and a detection latency set of 0-10s to avoid irrelevant annoying movement and reduce false alarm rate.
5. Clear APP Interface for Simple Application: Tuya Smart APP compatibility ensures its wireless remote control anywhere you like, monitoring your house security wherever and whenever with corresponding target distance display in the APP; Ceiling-mounted installation.

Body detection sensor *1
User manual*1
(1)Detect someone when no one is there: it is recommended to set the detection distance short, high and low sensitivity to investigate the cause and find the interferences in the environment. Avoid interference by limiting the farthest detection distance and installation method.
(2)Cannot detect when humans present: people need to be in the effective detection area; if sitting still, they need the body parts with relative movement (such as breathing movement)to be inclined or facing the equipment and then be detected.
(3)It is suggested that the target disappearance confirmation time(delay time)should not be too small. The default time is 15 seconds. If it is smaller, the target may disappear with a certain probability due to an accidental respiratory pause, resulting in a missing report.
(4)In the scenes with low and narrow installation heights, such as a bathroom, washing room, and kitchen, it is recommended to set the detection distance more minor than the installation height and have high and low sensitivity.
1. Q: What is the difference between this ZigBee version and a WiFi version of the sensor?
A: The ZigBee version requires a ZigBee hub and provides more stable, low-power and mesh-network communication. It does not connect directly to a WiFi router. The WiFi version connects directly to your home network without a hub but consumes more power and does not support ZigBee mesh networking.
2. Q: Does this sensor detect human presence even when the person is completely still?
A: Yes. The mmWave radar detects micro-motions such as breathing and slight body movement, allowing it to detect presence even when a person is stationary — unlike PIR sensors that require visible motion.
3. Q: What is the difference between 5.8 GHz and 24 GHz mmWave sensors?
A: 5.8 GHz offers longer detection distance and stronger penetration through obstacles, making it suitable for larger or open spaces. 24 GHz provides higher precision and better micro-motion detection for smaller rooms, with fewer false triggers. Each frequency is optimized for different indoor scenarios.
4. Q: Does this sensor require a hub or gateway to operate?
A: Yes. As a ZigBee device, it must connect to a ZigBee hub (such as a Tuya ZigBee gateway). Without the hub, it cannot send detection events to your smart-home system or app.
5. Q: Can I use multiple sensors in the same home or system?
A: Yes. You can install multiple ZigBee mmWave sensors in different rooms. Each sensor appears as a separate device in the app and can be named and automated individually.
6. Q: Will pets, fans, or moving curtains trigger false detections?
A: It is possible. Since mmWave radar senses micro-movement, pets, airflow, or objects moving close to the sensor can create false triggers. Adjusting sensitivity, detection range, and hold time can reduce these occurrences.
7. Q: Does the sensor work in darkness or low-light conditions?
A: Yes. mmWave radar does not rely on visible light. It detects presence using electromagnetic waves, so performance is not affected by low light or darkness.
8. Q: What is the typical detection range and mounting height?
A: Typical detection distance is around 6–9 meters depending on room layout and sensitivity settings. Ceiling installation at approximately 2.7–3.5 meters height provides the best coverage and accuracy.
9. Q: Will the sensor continue working if WiFi or Internet goes offline?
A: Yes. As long as the local ZigBee hub is powered, the sensor continues detecting presence. However, cloud-based notifications or remote access may not work until the Internet connection is restored.
10. Q: Is installation difficult, and does it require wiring?
A: No. Installation is simple. The sensor usually mounts with screws or adhesive and pairs wirelessly with the ZigBee hub. No wiring is required, and all configuration (delay time, sensitivity, presence duration) is done through the app.
